1950s Vintage Black Copper-Gold Cozy Wool Bodice Dress with High Waist and Pockets - Xs to Sm
A lovely little piece. This cozy wool topped dress is perfect for the end of the winter season and that lingering chilly weather! The fabric is warm and the turtleneck is perfect to keep you cozy. The attached skirt portion is made of another type of fabric that is lighter, but easy to layer. It has metallic thread woven through for that extra pizzazz, giving an overall black and coppery-gold impression. Plus it has some pretty size-able pockets!! The buttons on the front of the skirt are just decoration. The whole piece zips up the back with a metal zipper and fastens with a matching belt. Would likely best fits size small, possibly an extra small given the bust. Model is modern size 4/6.

Measurements:
Bust: 32 inches (from flat measurement) but model is a modern 34B and while it was a bit tight, it worked)
Waist: 26 inches (no give to this fabric)
Hips: up to 48 inches (basically open)
Length: 40 inches
Sleeve Length: 14 inches
Fair vintage condition - While this piece presents beautifully, the repairs made prior to my acquisition are a bit obvious. The really obvious ones are on the wool area of the back though so if you wear your hair down you are in luck. Though, I am sure with some patience these could be fixed up to be less obvious. There is some overall wear to both fabrics - There are also some small seam pulls and holes happening as well as a few loose threads and small snags to the metallic fabric. The belt also has some wear, especially at the belt holes. The pockets are really big and as such to get the 50s look without the pockets “drooping”, you may want to wear a petticoat or crinoline -this would also make it warmer too! May be best for costume or study. Some pilling and wear to the wool too.
All measurements are approximate as they are taken flat - for garments specifically this means where applicable (bust, waist, hips) has been doubled unless stated otherwise. If you are uncertain about fit and/or need more measurements please ask! If it is provided in the listing, models and/or dress form sizes are used as a point of reference only. Please remember that all bodies are different so always defer to the measurements I provide and check them against your own, preferably on a similar style garment. If you need more information about my measurements and vintage sizing please refer to my FAQs section under my Shop Policies page and ask me, I am here to help!!
