1940s 1950s Vintage Betty Barclay Black & Copper Cocktail Dress with Belt - Sm
A classic late 40s or early 50s cocktail or hostess dress. The fit and flare look coupled with the black and coppery colored pattern would make this a great piece to have for the festive season! It features shoulder pads (though these could be removed easily if you don’t like them) and the original belt! The fabric feels like a type of taffeta, though there is no content tag. The dress buttons partially up the front and features a side metal zipper. Label is for Betty Barclay. It would likely best fit a modern Small. Model is a modern 4/6 for reference.

Measurements :
Bust: 37 inches
Waist: 26 Inches
Hips: relatively open given flare style to the skirt
Length: 45 inches
Sleeve Length: 6 inches
Good vintage condition- There is some overall wear to the dress. First and foremost the fabric does like to wrinkle and does have a sort of crinkled texture. I think this is intentional but to prevent further wrinkles hang it as soon as it is received. A repair was found near the waist - see last picture. If you wear the belt with the piece, it should hide the repair. Some wear to the inner seam allotments. A few small marks and pulls/scratches to the fabric in places. Minor wear to belt. Some wear and pulling to the fabric where the buttons are attached.
All measurements are approximate as they are taken flat - for garments specifically this means where applicable (bust, waist, hips) has been doubled unless stated otherwise. If you are uncertain about fit and/or need more measurements please ask! If it is provided in the listing, models and/or dress form sizes are used as a point of reference only. Please remember that all bodies are different so always defer to the measurements I provide and check them against your own, preferably on a similar style garment. If you need more information about my measurements and vintage sizing please refer to my FAQs section under my Shop Policies page and ask me, I am here to help!!
