1940s 1950s Vintage Colby Black Velveteen or velvet Dress Hat Headpiece
Black velvet in any format is always a good idea. This lovely late 40s or early 50s headpiece is a great addition to your evening outfit! The soft velvet is complemented with an interesting cord-like edging. The piece is formed with an internal wire, which seems pretty malleable still if you need to adjust it to fit you. Label is for “Colby”. Would likely best fit upon the head with a hat or bobby pins. For reference models hat size is 21.5.

Measures about 7 inches ear to ear (though this is without adjusting the wire inside).
Good Vintage Condition - The piece has some overall wear with a few tiny loose threads that do not seem to impact wear. There are some spots of wear/crushing, especially on the edges. The wires within the cord detailing to the edges shows some rust in places and pokes out a bit here and there. I have tried to bend them so they wont stick you! Some faint markings on the piece, most notably on the underside of the hat. Given that it holds its form with wire, it is not perfectly symmetrical, but I honestly don’t think its obvious when worn and you can probably make it more even if you fidget with the metal to shape it.
