RARE 1940s Vintage Marshall Fields Pink & Lavender Damask Dressing Gown Robe - Sm

$295.00

Absolutely stunning 1940s dressing robe. The piece is made of a lovely damask in two shades of pink with a grape and grape leaf motif. The sleeves, belt, and one side of the interior (that part that would show when you walk) all display a fine lavender crepe fabric. You can wear the sleeves cuffed or not - up to you. The piece has an internal hook and eye closure as well as a snap closure. You can also wear it with the matching sash. Label is the more rare “Marshal Fields and Company Lounging Apparel”. There is no size tag. Would likely best fit a modern small. For reference model is modern size 4/6, dress form XS.

Measurements:

Bust : 36 inches

Waist: 26/27 inches

Hips: up to 42 inches

Sleeve Length: 17- 20.5 inches (depending on if you cuff it or not)

Total Length: about 53 inches

Belt Length: 55 inches

Good Vintage Condition - There is some overall wear to the piece with a few loose threads, teeny tiny snags and small pin holes (mainly where stitching is). The gathering at the shoulders has come undone a tiny bit (see last image). There are a few areas of minor yellowing and discoloration - especially noted at the back of neck, underarms, back of sleeves - as well as some spots here and there that would not come out with cleaning. Some minor discoloration, spotting, and pulls to the lavender crepe as well. The belt is no longer attached to the piece, but has evidence that it was based on the stitching. There is also a line on the INSIDE hem, marking I assume where they wanted to cut the fabric? But it’s on the inside and does not show when worn. The hem looks a bit longer on either side, but I think its meant that way.

All measurements are approximate as they are taken flat - for garments specifically this means where applicable (bust, waist, hips) has been doubled unless stated otherwise. If you are uncertain about fit and/or need more measurements please ask! If it is provided in the listing, models and/or dress form sizes are used as a point of reference only. Please remember that all bodies are different so always defer to the measurements I provide and check them against your own, preferably on a similar style garment.
