1950s Iridescent Two Tone Blue Cocktail Party Dress - Xs

$95.00

This unique two-toned blue cocktail or party dress is a stunning little number! The iridescent light blue is complimented so well with the electric blue back! The detailing too of how the two fabrics are layered and how the skirt and bodice is constructed is just breathtaking. And that little bow in the back! Union tag found, but no maker label. Fabric feels like taffeta. Zips up the back with a metal zipper. Would likely best fit a modern Extra Small. For reference model is modern size 4/6 and it was tight in the waist. Dress form size 0 and waistband is fully shown there (for some reason it tucked inward on itself on model because it was tight).

Measurements :

  • Bust: 34.5 inches

  • Waist: 24 inches

  • Hips: relatively open

  • Length: 41 inches

Good to Fair vintage condition - Some overall wear to dress inside and out. Presents beautifully, but there are a number of flaws throughout, so may be best for costume or study. First there are a few wear spots and tiny holes to the fabric. One is particularly bad on the hip (about the size of a penny) - I thought about adding a sequined applique over it, but wasn’t sure if you’d like it, as such I have left it given that its not too noticeable when worn as your hand falls in that general area. There are also a number of marks, faint areas of discoloration throughout. When hanging the tulle pokes out a tiny bit from the hem, though this did not seem noticeable when on the dress form or model. There is also a repair noted to the zipper - it was sewn higher to ensure that it could still work with the original zipper. You may want to tack down the bow, but up to you. The darting to the back of the bodice has been let out. Some marks of prior creases in fabric, fabric likes to wrinkle so hang it up as soon as you receive it!

All measurements are approximate as they are taken flat - for garments specifically this means where applicable (bust, waist, hips) has been doubled unless stated otherwise. If you are uncertain about fit and/or need more measurements please ask! If it is provided in the listing, models and/or dress form sizes are used as a point of reference only. Please remember that all bodies are different so always defer to the measurements I provide and check them against your own, preferably on a similar style garment. If you need more information about my measurements and vintage sizing please refer to my FAQs section under my Shop Policies page and ask me, I am here to help!!
