1950s Vintage Light Emerald Green Iridescent Taffeta Strapless Bubble or Tulip Style Cocktail Dress - X
Wow! A stunning example of a 50s bubble or tulip cocktail dress. The “bubble” effect is significantly less obvious than in some similar style dresses. It actually looks more like tulip petals to me as every other seam is simply bunched up (not rolled underneath), creating a sort of scalloped effect to the hem. The overall effect it has created is absolutely lovely. Of course, the strapless bodice and color of the dress are pretty incredible too! The iridescent almost peacock green taffeta has the slightest hints of blue when it shimmers a certain way. Zips up the back with a metal zipper. There was no maker label, only a size and style tag. It would likely best fit a modern Extra Small. Dress form is a modern XS for reference.

Measurements :
Bust: 32 inches (as you can see in the flat lay image, this does not account for cups size- when I pull it taught to measure its about 34 inches).
Waist: 24 inches
Hips: relatively/free open given style
Length:about 41 inches (from top of bodice down)
Good vintage condition - Definitely presents beautifully but there is some overall wear to the fabric inside and out, with a few areas of more significant wear spots to note (see photos). The worst of this at the top of the zipper in back as well as the underarm areas. There are a few marks and areas of discoloration in places that did not come out with dry cleaning. Additionally, a mend to what appears to have been a small hole in the taffeta, (on the front of the skirt) was found. To my eye, most of the marks and wear spots get “lost” with the amount of fabric in the skirt. The inside tulle backing has had some mends to a few areas - none of this is visible from the outside of the garment. A few loose threads in places that do not seem to impact wear. Some slight bending to the boning, but seems to be in good shape overall.
Taffeta likes to wrinkle, so hang this up as soon as you receive it!
All measurements are approximate as they are taken flat - for garments specifically this means where applicable (bust, waist, hips) has been doubled unless stated otherwise.
