Antique Whiting and Davis Silver and Gold Tone Metal Chain Mesh Bag
For the collector - a coveted fine mesh chain bag by Whiting & Davis! The silver and gold tone bag would make a great gift. Likely from the 1920s, though it could be older. The piece features a metal handle and closes with a deco style kiss clasp on the frame. Bag is stamped inside.

Approximate Measurements:
4 inches across x 6-7 inches high depending on if you include the tall kiss clasp (without handle)
Good antique condition- For its age this item is in good condition, though this is very delicate! I highly recommend since it is a collectors piece, that it is used sparingly (if at all) and stored with proper archival techniques. There is some general wear and tarnish to the metal. The gold tone frame of the bag looks like it was actually painted with gold in the past, but most has worn off, leaving the frame (which is I think brass) visible. Most noticeable are some ares of tarnish and marks and areas of wear throughout the piece. There are tiny areas of color on the mesh portion of the item, suggesting it may have been painted in the past - though it is difficult to tell. If it was painted, most of it has worn off by now. Some minor issues with some of the chainmail - one small hole is where the clasp meets the chain mill too. The Whiting and Davis stamp is slightly worn.
All measurements are approximate as they are taken flat - for garments specifically this means where applicable (bust, waist, hips) has been doubled unless stated otherwise. If you are uncertain about fit and/or need more measurements please ask! If it is provided in the listing, models and/or dress form sizes are used as a point of reference only. Please remember that all bodies are different so always defer to the measurements I provide and check them against your own, preferably on a similar style garment. If you need more information about my measurements and vintage sizing please refer to my FAQs section under my Shop Policies page and ask me, I am here to help!!
