Antique Whiting & Davis Purple Painted Metal Chain Mesh Bag
For the collector - a coveted mesh chainmail bag by Whiting & Davis! This incredible piece still has a bulk of the paint on it! The pattern seems geometric. Though it is faint, you can still make out lavender yellow, and green! Likely from the 1920s, though it could be older. The piece features a metal chain handle and closes with a kiss clasp on the frame. The silver tone frame clasp features a lovely botanical-like design. Bag has the maker tag inside.

Good antique condition- For its age this item is in good condition, though this is very delicate! I highly recommend since it is a collectors piece, that it is used sparingly (if at all) and stored with proper archival techniques. There is some general wear and tarnish to the metal. Most noticeable are some small scuffs, marks, as well as wear to the paint in places. It is likely that the paint overall is not as vibrant as it used to be. Some minor issues with some of the chainmail. One of the hooks the chain handle is attached is bent. Chain handle is different type of metal to the clasp and I am uncertain if this was intentional or its a replaced handle. The top metal frame is ever so slightly warped, you can only tell this if looking closely whe non a flat surface as it does not lay completely flat. Whiting and Davis metal tag is bent and tarnished.
