1930s Vintage Grey Liquid Satin Gown with Rosettes Study or Project Piece- Xs

$55.00

A stunning piece - would make a good costume or project piece. The shiny and soft liquid satin look and the bias cut, just hugs all the curves in the right way. Plus the lovely little handmade rosette details along the neck add a lovely little touch. There are no labels to the piece. Many parts of this look hand stitched, but done really well by a skilled dress maker. Would likely best fit a modern Extra Small. The piece is a pull over, so keep this in mind for sizing. For reference the model is a modern 4/6 and it was a bit tight across the chest.

Measurements :

  • Bust: about 32 inches max

  • Waist : about 26 inches max

  • Hips: up to about 36 inches max

  • Length: 57 inches in front - it is a tad bit longer in the back)

Fair vintage condition- This dress definitely presents beautifully but there are issues, making it best for a study or costume/rework piece. The piece looks to have had some repairs to some seams in the past, though there does still seam to be some minor issues left - namely you can see on the interior that the seam allotments are really frayed. The biggest issue is that there are numerous marks and spots on the dress the would not come out with cleaning - the worst is near the stomach /hip area. Additionally some area of grey look slightly darker than others. These issues might make this dress a good candidate for an over-dye job, but I am personally not sure how one would go about doing that. There are also a few small holes and snags found throughout. The hand stitching looks to have been done in a different color thread, this is particularly noticeable on the rosettes - though perhaps the over-dye would fix this issue too.

All measurements are approximate - taken flat and doubled where needed (bust, waist, hips) unless otherwise stated.
