1940s 1950s Vintage Raymond Golden Pin Stripe Front Button Zip Dressing Robe Gown - XS

$175.00

An absolutely stunning example of a 1940s or possibly early 1950s dressing gown or robe! The beautiful cream and gold pin stripe-like pattern on this piece would make an excellent addition to any vintage collectors wardrobe. While its sure to brighten up your loungewear collection, it could easily be worn as a formal gown or party dress in this day in age. Plus, this beauty has pockets! Fabric feels like a satin, with the gold (possibly lurex?) woven through. The garment fastens in the front with a combination of buttons, a hook, and zipper. The label is for Raymond. It would likely best fit a modern Extra Small. But please see measurements. Model is modern size 4/6 for your reference and it felt a bit tight on her in the chest and waist. Dress form is a size XS for reference.

Measurements:

  • Bust: 33 inches (model is 34B for reference and it felt and looks tight)

  • Waist: 25 inches

  • Hips: up to 42 inches, there is some gathered fabric, but you want to make sure the zipper fold stays in tact to hide the zipper

  • Length: 54 inches

  • Sleeve Length: 20 inches

  • Good vintage condition - Expected overall wear inside and out. There is some slight pulls and areas of wear to the fabric. A couple of smaller mends have occurred on both shoulders (see images - inside the garment shows small patch of flocking and stitches, while the outside shows teeny stitches. There are marks/discoloration/yellowing to the piece, especially on skirt portion that did not come out with cleaning. These are VERY difficult for me to both capture with pictures and see from the outside. Inside of the skirt portion they are much more obvious and easy to see. I have tried my best to capture the more obvious ones for you. I will say though given the shine of the exterior fabric and gold I felt like it was not too terribly obvious from afar. Pockets like to bunch up sometimes, but seem to function ok. You can see there are belt loops, but no belt. The rhinestones show some clouding in places. And you can see some hand stitching from how the garment was made. Additionally it looks like the hem was taken up at one time and then let out again.

All measurements are approximate as they are taken flat - for garments specifically this means where applicable (bust, waist, hips) has been doubled unless stated otherwise. If you are uncertain about fit and/or need more measurements please ask! If it is provided in the listing, models and/or dress form sizes are used as a point of reference only. Please remember that all bodies are different so always defer to the measurements I provide and check them against your own, preferably on a similar style garment. If you need more information about my measurements and vintage sizing please refer to my FAQs section under my Shop Policies page and ask me, I am here to help!!
