1940s Vintage Unique Cream Dress with Red Polkadot Front Panel - S

$135.00

Wow! This 1940s dream dress is perfect for the office and some cocktails after work! Lightweight, yet great for that summer to fall transition. The incredible front features a gorgeous red fabric (possibly rayon) with polkadots and the most amazing original buttons! The main portion of the is comprised of a cream light weight fabric. Dress zips up the side and buttons up the front. The dress also features small shoulder pads (these look like they can be easily removed if you so choose). There are no label or size tags- but the dress would likely best fit a modern small. For reference the model is a modern 4/6.

Measurements :

  • Bust: about 38 inches ( I think this is meant to be a tad loose, like a bloused look).

  • Waist: 27 inches

  • Hips: up to about 40 inches

  • Length: 42 inches

  • Sleeve Length: 17 inches

Good vintage condition- Overall wear. There is some yellowing /discoloration to the cream portion of the dress. There is some small pinpoint holes and small spots found too. To my eye the worst of this seems to be the two shoulders- this did not come out with dry cleaning, however you may be able to lighten it with a soak- I was just worried to do so a cause color run onto the white. If there was a matching belt, it is now missing, though the belt loops are intact. The fabric does seem to wrinkle easily so hang it as soon as you get it home.

Please note- the dress did come with the original underarm absorbing pads, but I had to remove them as they were not in good shape. That said, for a dress like this, I highly recommend you invest in modern versions of this to attach to the piece - it really does make a huge difference in reducing yellowing to the underarms for the long term!

All measurements are approximate as they are taken flat - for garments specifically this means where applicable (bust, waist, hips) has been doubled unless stated otherwise. If you are uncertain about fit and/or need more measurements please ask! If it is provided in the listing, models and/or dress form sizes are used as a point of reference only. Please remember that all bodies are different so always defer to the measurements I provide and check them against your own, preferably on a similar style garment. If you need more information about my measurements and vintage sizing please refer to my FAQs section under my Shop Policies page and ask me, I am here to help!!
