1950s 1960s Vintage Townley Short Cream & Black Wool Coat or Jacket with Fur Trim Collar - Xs to Sm

$155.00

This late 50s or early 60s black and cream heavy woven wool short coat or jacket is so perfect for any mid century look! The neutral colors paired with the fun fur collar create a sleek and timeless look! So perfect to pair with jeans, dress pants, or a fun dress! Its cozy, but the short length doesn’t make it too hot. The jacket is lined with a satin fabric and has pockets. I think the fur is fox that has been dyed a darker color. The fur looks black under natural light, but does have a slight burgundy tint to it (which is REALLY COOL!). Tag says “Maurice Rothchild & Co. Townley”. While there are no closures, it would likely best fit modern Extra Small to Small because it can be tight in the arms and across the shoulders. Model is modern size 4/6 for reference.

Measurements:

  • Bust: open - no closures

  • Waist: open - no closures

  • Shoulders: about 19 inches across at the top (from the back)- Please refer to image

  • Sleeve Length: about 19 inches (there is no shoulder seam to measure from)

  • Length: 26 inches (measuring the wool coat, not the fur)

Good vintage condition - Some overall wear to the piece. Minor wear to wool, thankfully the wool is very textured. Minor wear to lining with some loose threads that do not seem to impact wear. Some wear to the fur, some of the hairs don’t all go the same direction. The fur collar may possibly be a later addition, though it is attached to the piece expertly.

All measurements are approximate as they are taken flat - for garments specifically this means where applicable (bust, waist, hips) has been doubled unless stated otherwise. If you are uncertain about fit and/or need more measurements please ask! If it is provided in the listing, models and/or dress form sizes are used as a point of reference only. Please remember that all bodies are different so always defer to the measurements I provide and check them against your own, preferably on a similar style garment. If you need more information about my measurements and vintage sizing please refer to my FAQs section under my Shop Policies page and ask me, I am here to help!!
