1960s Vintage Hot Pink Raw Silk Cocktail Business Dress with Bow Detail - Md

$85.00

WOW! This stunning hot pink dress is sure to turn heads! The fun color is great for summer. I love the slight bloused look to the bodice and the fun collar. Fabric feels and looks like raw silk (possibly a silk blend), though there is no content tag. The dress is lined except for at the sleeves. Zips up the back with a metal zipper. Only tag is for lot size. Says vintage size 16. This would likely best fit a modern Medium. For reference model is modern size 4/6 and dress form is modern size 8.

Measurements:

  • Bust: 38 inches / possibly 39 given the darting in the chest

  • Waist: 29 inches

  • Hips: 42 inches

  • Length: 39 inches

  • Sleeve Length: about 9 inches (there is no shoulder seam to measure from)

Good to fair vintage condition - Presents beautifully but I would first say that this dress is likely delicate given its fabric makeup. Some overall wear to the dress with some minor color fade, mostly noticeable at the shoulders and collar. There are also a few small marks here and there. When you hold the garment up to the light you can see that there are areas (particularly around the sleeves) that show wear to the fabric (hence the “fair” designation) - this is not a hole per se, but the woven threads are loose (I tried to demonstrate this as best as I could in the last 3 photos). I would just advise that you store this not on a hanger - best for an archival box in my opinion. This piece does seem wearable, just use caution when wearing. Additionally some of the seams show wear and slight pulling. Some pulls to the fabric as well, but it is intentionally textured fabric ( like a raw silk feel) so this likely isn’t too obvious. You can see the stitching from when it was originally made at the sleeves and hem - normal for this period.

All measurements are approximate - taken flat and doubled where needed (bust, waist, hips) unless otherwise stated. An items conditions is summarized above, but for more information outlining what to expect within each condition category type and what this means please refer to my FAQ & Policies page.
