1960s Vintage Peacock Blue-Green Silk Long Formal Dress or Gown - Sm

$125.00

A lovely vintage formal gown in a color I can only describe as peacock! The long dress has a lovely neckline and silhouette, with a matching belt that extenuates the waist. The fabric feels like a brushed silk and depending on the way the light hits it, it can look dark blue, dark green, or both! The piece is fully lined. The piece zips up the back with a metal zipper. There is a matching belt that secures in place at the sides of the dress with hidden snaps. Additionally the belt hooks and snaps together. There was no maker label. It would likely best fit a modern Small. Model is a modern 4/6 for reference.

Measurements :

  • Bust: 35 inches (though as you can see, there still is a bit of gathering in the fabric at the front of the bust from the flat lay photo.

  • Waist: 27 inches

  • Hips: about 42 inches to keep the pleats intact

  • Length: 53 inches

  • Belt: is a fixed size as it has hook and snap closures - about 28 inches

  • Good vintage condition -There is some overall wear to the garment. The dress fabric has an overall brushed silk look, which hides a lot of the wear. But I do want to note that there is some pilling and fuzzing in places. I found a few very small holes in the piece. There were also a few snags and pull as well as loose thread to the piece. Another thing of note is the absence of color in a few small spots of the silk - this is actually an issue from the dyeing process - a common thing seen in this type of silk. They are small area and are not noticeable unless looking very closely. The belt has some wear, bends a tiny bit when not worn and has a mark. Fabric likes to wrinkle, so hang this up as soon as you receive it! Super faint discoloration at the underarms.

All measurements are approximate as they are taken flat - for garments specifically this means where applicable (bust, waist, hips) has been doubled unless stated otherwise. If you are uncertain about fit and/or need more measurements please ask! If it is provided in the listing, models and/or dress form sizes are used as a point of reference only. Please remember that all bodies are different so always defer to the measurements I provide and check them against your own, preferably on a similar style garment.
