1980s M.J. Carroll Purple Cocktail Dress - Lg

$35.00

Stunning! This quintessential 80s silhouette is so comfy and fun! The fitted skirt combo with the blousy bodice can be worn either casual or dressy. Plus the fun purple color is so unique! The dress does have shoulder pads, giving it that completed 80s look! Please note, you want it to be tight at the hips. If it is too loose the garment will not have the bloused look as is demonstrated on the model and will instead just fall straight down as it does on the dress form. Fabric is a lightweight poly- almost feels like silk. The garment is a pull over - there are no closures, except for one button at the hem for the side slit. Label for M.J. Carroll and tag says vintage size 13/14. Should best fit a modern size Large. Model is modern Large for reference with a 36C Bust.

Measurements :

  • Bust: 60 inches : Given this, I estimate that about a 40 inch bust should work (give or take) as the look is meant to be blousy

  • Waist: 50 inches : Given this, I estimate that about a 37 inch waist should work (give or take) as the look is meant to be blousy

  • Hips: 40 inches

  • Length: 45 inches

  • Sleeve Length: about 17 inches from seam; about 23 inches from end of shoulder pad

Good vintage condition - Some overall wear to garment. A few loose threads and wear on interior that should not impact wear.

All measurements are approximate as they are taken flat - for garments specifically this means where applicable (bust, waist, hips) has been doubled unless stated otherwise. If you are uncertain about fit and/or need more measurements please ask! If it is provided in the listing, models and/or dress form sizes are used as a point of reference only. Please remember that all bodies are different so always defer to the measurements I provide and check them against your own, preferably on a similar style garment. If you need more information about my measurements and vintage sizing please refer to my FAQs section under my Shop Policies page and ask me, I am here to help!!
