RARE 1950s Vintage Designer Larry Aldrich Grey Linen Dress with GIANT Rhinestone Buttons - SM
WOW! I have never seen vintage buttons like this! And on a coveted Larry Aldrich no less! This incredible designer made gorgeous dresses throughout their career - but the ones from the 50s are the best! This beautiful piece is comprised of a lovely Fall moody grey fabric - I believe its linen and there is no give. For a warmer option you may want to wear a slip underneath. It even has pockets!! Buttons up the front with probably the coolest buttons on the planet! Would likely best fit a modern size Small. Model is modern size 4/6 for reference with 34 B bust. Please see measurements below!

Dress Measurements :
Bust: 36 inches *see note below
Waist: 26 inches
Hips: about 41 inches (there are pleats in the front)
Length: 44 inches
Cap sleeve Length: about 2 inches
Good vintage condition -Some expected wear to item. A few areas of very minor marks or discoloration that did not show up well on camera. The most noticeable was on the shoulder. There is some places where the linen fabric has a brushed look to it - I am assuming most of this is from manufacture. There are some scuff marks, general wear and tarnish to the buttons. Some of the stones spin slightly in their settings, but the settings look secure. It looks like there may have been a belt originally based on the belt loops, but there is no longer a belt. It is linen, it likes to wrinkle, so hang it up as soon as possible.
*the bust is measured across where the darting and bust is. Whats different about this dress, is the underarm area appears to have a tiny bit more fabric, possibly a combination of trying to achieve a typical 50s bullet bra look with undergarments and a slight cap sleeve look. As such, this particular measurement was not done as strict pit to pit, but ever so slightly lower to better follow where the chest darting is. Please see last image. Model is modern 34A/B for reference.
All measurements are approximate as they are taken flat - for garments specifically this means where applicable (bust, waist, hips) has been doubled unless stated otherwise. If you are uncertain about fit and/or need more measurements please ask! If it is provided in the listing, models and/or dress form sizes are used as a point of reference only. Please remember that all bodies are different so always defer to the measurements I provide and check them against your own, preferably on a similar style garment. If you need more information about my measurements and vintage sizing please refer to my FAQs section under my Shop Policies page and ask me, I am here to help!!
