1930s 1940s Vintage Black Dinner Dress - Md
This lovely simple black dress (likely from the late 30s or early 40s) is a great classic staple to add to any wardrobe. The expert pleating and drapery of this faux wrap style is just so elegant. It creates such a gorgeous silhouette! The fabric is lightweight and feels like crepe - rayon. No label tag. While the dress has a metal side-zip, it still needs to be pulled over the head. As such it would likely best fit a Medium. I do believe it is meant to have a bloused look to the fit. Model is modern size 4/6.

Nightgown Measurements:
Bust: about 38 inches but somewhat open given V (measurement is 19 inches from pit to pit seam at the back, then it was doubled).
Waist: about 28 inches (measurement is 14 inches flat from seam to seam measured in back along waist seam - then it was doubled).
Hips: about 41 inches
Length: 47 inches (though one part is slightly longer where the the gather drapes down).
Sleeve Length: 18 inches
Good Vintage Condition - Overall wear and faint fade to fabric with some very small snags and holes (pictured). There are also a few very faint marks on the piece that would not come out. Minor wear to the interior of the garment as well (to be expected). A few loose threads here and there, but they don’t seem to be affecting wear. The side of the skirt with the drape and gather at the front is slightly longer at the hem - I think this is intentional though.
All measurements are approximate as they are taken flat - for garments specifically this means where applicable (bust, waist, hips) has been doubled unless stated otherwise. If you are uncertain about fit and/or need more measurements please ask! If it is provided in the listing, models and/or dress form sizes are used as a point of reference only. Please remember that all bodies are different so always defer to the measurements I provide and check them against your own, preferably on a similar style garment. If you need more information about my measurements and vintage sizing please refer to my FAQs section under my Shop Policies page and ask me, I am here to help!!
