1940s 1950s Vintage Lavender and Grey Tone Silken Day Shirtwaist Dress with Belt - Sm to Md
Such a lovely spring dress with a delicate pattern in pink, lavender, and grey. It even comes with a matching belt. The buttons feel like glass buttons. The elegant pleating of the skirt is great to add a bit more volume and comfort. The fabric feels like silky rayon (or perhaps some other silken blend?), but it is lightweight and perfect for hot days! The garment appears to be hand made and is not lined. Buttons up the front and has a snap closure. There is a bit of an intentional gap bellow the snap closure to add more room in the opening to put it over your head (not noticeable when worn). Best fits a Small and maybe a Medium. Model is modern size 4/6 and it fits somewhat loosely.

Good vintage condition - This piece presents beautifully and is definitely wearable but has a number of minor issues. First there seems to have been some small repairs to a number of seams of this dress - they look to be in good shape now, but I wanted to mention it appears to have been mended by the former owner. Further there is some general overall wear as well as marks and spots to the fabric. This presents mostly as very faint overall fading as well as markings to underarms. This wasn’t very noticeable until I closely examined the belt next to the dress - at which point I found the dress to be slightly lighter in color compared to the belt. There are also some loose strings in the seam allotments, though this should not impact wear. Given the age and materiel, I would say this is delicate but a wearable piece. The belt has some wear and the belt holes all have minor fraying.
All measurements are approximate as they are taken flat - for garments specifically this means where applicable (bust, waist, hips) has been doubled unless stated otherwise. If you are uncertain about fit and/or need more measurements please ask! If it is provided in the listing, models and/or dress form sizes are used as a point of reference only. Please remember that all bodies are different so always defer to the measurements I provide and check them against your own, preferably on a similar style garment.
