1940s 1950s Vintage Melanie Original Pink Wool Chenille Beaded Cardigan Sweater - Sm to Md
Adorable and classic - great for vintage knit collectors! This lovely cardigan is in a great pink color. It features a pretty botanical beaded pattern on the left chest and buttons up the front with pearlescent buttons. Knit is wool chenille and there is some give. Label is for Melanie Original. Would likely best fit a modern Small to Medium, depending on how you like your fit. Measurements provided are of the garment NOT stretched. For reference model is modern size 4/6.

Good Vintage Condition - Some overall wear to the piece. There is some slight pilling and fuzzing to areas, but the overall nubby texture hides this well. There are a few areas of marks and discoloration that did not come out with cleaning, though they did lighten! Overall I don’t think these are too obvious - the most obvious to my eye are the marks at the backs of the sleeves. The back of collar and shoulders have an ever so slight color fade happening as well. Minor wear to buttons. There are some loose threads around the beads, but I couldn’t tell if there was bead loss or not. The white beads look like they may have once all been pearly- but this has since rubbed off, though pretty much uniformly and I think it looks fine as it is now. The inside fabric they used during manufacture to make sure the beads laid correctly is fraying - this is normal and not at all surprising, further it does not impact wear or the beads at all (see last photo).
