1950s 1960s Vintage Terry Rogers Black Polkadot Wool Flounce or Ruffled Hem Dress - Md

$95.00

A great example of a 50s to early 60s winter dress. The black wool is obviously a classic choice, but this piece really stands apart with the addition of embroidered polkadots and a flounce (or ruffle) to the hem. Label for Terry Rogers. The fabric feels like wool, with only the bodice and part of the skirt back lined. It zips up the back with a metal zipper. It would likely best fit a modern Medium but please see measurements. There is some give to the fabric. Model is modern size 4/6 for reference.

Measurements:

Bust: 36 inches

Waist: 29 inches

Hips: 36.5 inches

Length: 41 inches (back of collar, straight down)

Sleeve Length: about 19 inches (dress doesn’t have a top shoulder seam to measure from)

Good vintage condition -Overall wear to the dress with some minor fuzzing a pilling throughout the piece. A few areas where there are extra “polka dots” sewn in places in a slightly different thread - my guess is these are past mends to hide some small holes. There are a few of the polka-dots too that exhibit either loose threads, are partial polkadots, or are missing most of the thread entirely (i.e. not following the regular polkadot pattern of the dress). Some faint spots and markings to the piece that did not come out with cleaning but is mostly noted on the satin trim (some of these may possibly be from pressing). Some wear seen on the satin trimmings too. There is some wear inside the garment as well with loose threads and only a partial internal lining remaining. I did see a few areas of wear in the wool - most were very small, but I found some small holes at the hem. Honestly there is so much fabric there at the flounce hem that I don’t think this will be obvious when worn. Zipper exhibits some minor rust and wear.

All measurements are approximate as they are taken flat - for garments specifically this means where applicable (bust, waist, hips) has been doubled unless stated otherwise. If you are uncertain about fit and/or need more measurements please ask! If it is provided in the listing, models and/or dress form sizes are used as a point of reference only. Please remember that all bodies are different so always defer to the measurements I provide and check them against your own, preferably on a similar style garment.
