1930s Vintage Burgundy Maroon Velvet Gown - Sm
Vintage velvets are always a good idea. This luxuriously soft burgundy velvet would make a great holiday party outfit. The rich color is a great alternative to bright red. The beautiful puffed sleeves and gathering at the bodice, coupled with the long flowing skirt creates such a gorgeous silhouette. There are no tags. The dress zips up the side with a metal zipper, but is otherwise a pullover. As such it would likely best fit a modern small. There is no give to the fabric, however it seems to be cut on the bias so it is a bit more accommodating in the hips. The Model is modern size 4/6 for reference.

Good vintage condition - Presents beautifully! Overall wear to dress and fabric. There are with areas of marks and small spots of wear or crushing to velvet. Smaller sized holes also found throughout the piece - most of which only seem to be slightly larger than pinhole sized. Some evidence of mending in its past along some seams. Additionally in the front there is a seam all the way down, but slightly off center that I think was put in to hid a larger hole. The hole is no longer visible from the outside, but you can see the seam. There are some tiny threads here and there that don’t seem to impact wear. On the interior of the dress there are additional marks, especially in the sleeves and underarms that would not come out with dry cleaning. There is also some wear noted to the interior seams. Overall, it looks to be in great shape for its age, but wear and store it carefully as its almost 100 year old velvet! You can see some stitching near the hem, but that’s normal for a dress this old and hand hemmed. The original belt is long since gone.
All measurements are approximate as they are taken flat - for garments specifically this means where applicable (bust, waist, hips) has been doubled unless stated otherwise. If you are uncertain about fit and/or need more measurements please ask! If it is provided in the listing, models and/or dress form sizes are used as a point of reference only. Please remember that all bodies are different so always defer to the measurements I provide and check them against your own, preferably on a similar style garment.
