1940s 1950s Vintage Green Sequined & Velveteen Cocktail Dress - Xs
A lovely holiday velveteen party dress from the late 40s or early 50s. The neckline features a band of fabric that wraps around the shoulders, giving a sort of off-the-shoulder look. The circle skirt is great for twirling around in and the dress even has a large bow in back! Zips up the back with a metal Falcon zipper. Bow snaps onto the back. Color is a lovely holiday green and fabric feels like velveteen (a lower pile velvet basically). The skirt portion is not lined, but the bodice is. There is no label or size tag. It would likely best fit a modern Extra-Small. The model is modern size 4/6 for reference and it felt VERY tight on her. I do think that on a Smaller person than myself (the model) it would look a bit more off the shoulder.

Measurements:
Bust: 33 inches
Waist: 24 inches
Hips: open size given the style
Length: 45 inches
Good vintage condition - The piece presents beautifully overall and is defiantly still wearable. There is however some overall wear to the velveteen, especially found throughout the skirt. To mitigate the appearance of the worn down portions I hand sew vintage beaded & sequined flower applique. While this helped with the overall appearance, I want to be transparent that there were some pretty worn spots before hand. I wasn’t able to cover everything as there are still a few smaller areas of wear to the velveteen, but it looks SO much better. They are placed where there were wear spots, so the pattern will not be symmetrical on the skirt - but I think thats prettier anyways. A few areas of crushing, creases, and faint marks also found to the velveteen. One small hole was found near the zipper, but the bow will hide this. A few repairs were made to the dress including some seams- repairs were past and present. There is wear and discoloration inside the dress. A few of the beads on the applique have wear as well because these were vintage pieces.
All measurements are approximate as they are taken flat - for garments specifically this means where applicable (bust, waist, hips) has been doubled unless stated otherwise. If you are uncertain about fit and/or need more measurements please ask! If it is provided in the listing, models and/or dress form sizes are used as a point of reference only. Please remember that all bodies are different so always defer to the measurements I provide and check them against your own, preferably on a similar style garment.
