COVETED 1940s Vintage Classic Black Peck & Peck Wool Coat with Embroidered Trim - Md to Lg
This classic black 1940s coat is a great piece to add to any vintage collectors wardrobe! The classic black wool (feels like wool crepe) is accentuated with a lovely embroidery along the collar and faux pocket flaps - to my eye this embroidery looks almost like soutache embroidery, but not exactly a match (just for a reference if you are interested). The piece buttons in the front at the waist - one button is simply decorative. As expected, this coat does have shoulder pads - a classic part of the essential early to mid 40s look! Its cozy due to an added cotton batting inside the piece and while I do think the exterior is wool, it is also lined. Label is for Peck & Peck - their harder to find 40s label! It would likely best fit modern Medium, possibly a Large, but as always please refer to measurements. Remember too, you want coats to be a bit loose to accommodate the clothing underneath. The coat feels a bit thick though because of the cotton batting inside the lining, so keep that in mind. Model is modern size 4/6 for reference and it did feel just a large across the chest.

Measurements Buttoned at the waist:
Bust: 38 inches (when hanging and pulled taught its was 40 inches)
Waist: 31 inches (when hanging and pulled taught its was 32 inches)
Hips: about 41 inches (there is technically no closure at this point).
Sleeve Length: 24 inches
Length: 42.5 inches (measured back of collar and down)
Good vintage condition - Some overall wear to the piece. There are a few areas of marks or pressing that happened from dry cleaning, both to the interior and exterior of the fabric. I found two smaller holes on the inside lining. There is a texture to one of the crepe panels on the interior lining, though not really a flaw. One of the shoulder seams has a bit of wear and ever so slight small threads sticking up. There are a few loose threads to the piece, but they do not seem to impact wear. There is some wear and chipping to the buttons - I am not sure of their material. The interior cotton batting (which sits between the exterior wool and interior lining) has some marks and wear, but is still cozy!
All measurements are approximate as they are taken flat - for garments specifically this means where applicable (bust, waist, hips) has been doubled unless stated otherwise. If you are uncertain about fit and/or need more measurements please ask! If it is provided in the listing, models and/or dress form sizes are used as a point of reference only. Please remember that all bodies are different so always defer to the measurements I provide and check them against your own, preferably on a similar style garment.
